Finance by a dentist, for healthcare professionals
Commercial Finance for Dentists, Doctors and Healthcare Businesses
Ten funding lines, one independent broker, and forty years of clinical practice behind every submission. We arrange finance for the businesses we have spent a career running.
The difference
A broker who has been the client, more than twenty times
Apex Funding Partners is led by Dr John Barry, a dentist still in practice after four decades. Over that career he has bought and sold more than twenty practices and raised finance for every one of them — goodwill, freeholds, fit-outs, equipment and working capital.
That matters because a healthcare business does not read like a normal SME. Goodwill sits awkwardly on a balance sheet, associate arrangements distort profit, and NHS income confuses underwriters who have never seen a UDA schedule. Applications get declined on presentation rather than on substance.
We prepare the case the way a specialist credit team needs to read it, and we tell you plainly when a deal does not stack up. Clients do not simply want money; they want someone who understands valuations, goodwill, associates, equipment and the reality of running a clinical business.
Commercial finance
Ten funding lines, arranged end to end
Most practice projects need two or three facilities working together. We structure them as one plan rather than as separate applications.

From first conversation to drawdown
No forms before a conversation, and no application submitted until you have seen what it will cost and agreed it is worth doing.
A clinical conversation
Fifteen minutes on what you are funding and why. Often that call alone changes the structure.
The case, properly built
Accounts normalised, income streams separated, and the questions a credit committee will ask answered in advance.
Terms you can compare
Options from across our lender panel, with the total cost of each set out side by side rather than a headline rate.
Through to completion
We run the valuation, the legals and the lender chase to drawdown, and stay available afterwards.
Who we act for
Clinicians, practice owners and the businesses that supply them
The common thread is a business built on professional qualification and patient trust. Lenders treat that sector as strong credit — provided the case is put in front of the right underwriter with the right evidence.
We act for principals buying their first practice, for groups adding sites, and for the laboratories, agencies and distributors that serve them.
- Dental practices, orthodontic and implant clinics

- Veterinary practices and referral hospitals
- Pharmacies, opticians and audiology groups

- Dental laboratories, locum agencies and healthcare suppliers
A dentist who understands dentistry from the inside — not simply a broker who happens to arrange finance for dentists.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Rarely, and often the opposite. Specialist healthcare lenders price more keenly than a general business bank and will lend on terms a high street relationship manager cannot approve — longer goodwill terms, higher loan to values and capital holidays among them.
Where a fee applies, it is disclosed in writing before you commit to anything, alongside any commission a lender pays us.
No. Dentistry is where our first-hand experience sits, and it informs everything we do, but we act across healthcare — medical, veterinary, pharmacy, optical, aesthetic and the supply businesses behind them. The underwriting logic that makes a dental practice fundable applies to all of them.
Yes. We are based in Thurso in the north of Scotland and act for clients throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Almost all of the process runs by telephone, video and secure document exchange, so location has no bearing on the terms available.

A short conversation with someone who has done it themselves is usually worth more than a week of comparison sites. No forms, no obligation, no script.
